What is a Preschool/Toddler Learning Board?
A preschool/toddler learning board is a hands-on, visual tool that helps toddlers and preschoolers develop key early learning skills through daily practice. It’s designed to replicate the circle time experience found in preschool classrooms—right in your home OR classroom!
This printable, customizable board includes activities that focus on:
Alphabet & Letter Recognition 🔡
Numbers & Counting 🔢
Shapes & Colors 🔴🟧💛🟩▶️💜
Days of the Week & Calendar Skills 🗓️

With multiple color options to choose from, you can personalize it to fit your child’s learning style and preferences!
Why I Created This Learning Board
I am a reading specialist with a degree in Early Childhood Education, and my toddler does not receive any outside care. I wanted to make sure she was getting exposure to foundational skills at home—but it had to be low-stress, highly engaging, and play-based. I couldn’t seem to find what I was looking for.
That’s why I went ahead and designed my own resource—to provide intentional, playful learning without overwhelming little learners (and their mommas!).
Why Every Parent & Teacher Needs This Learning Board
If you’re a homeschooling parent, teacher, or caregiver, this learning board is a must-have for your preschooler or toddler.
Here’s why:
✔ Easy to Use & Set Up – Simply print, laminate, and assemble using Velcro dots (I include all the needed supplies and a support video)
✔ Perfect for Homeschool & Daycare – Incorporate it into your morning routine or structured learning time (we honestly refer to it throughout the day!).

✔ Customizable for Your Child’s Needs – Add your child’s name, age, and favorite colors.
✔ Designed by a Reading Specialist & Early Childhood Educator – You can trust that this resource is backed by educational expertise. (I made it for my own toddler using all of my background knowledge on child development!)
✔ Easily Stored – The board can be folded up and put away when not in use, making it perfect for small spaces!
How to Use the Preschool Learning Board
Getting started is easy! Here’s how you can integrate it into your daily routine:
1️⃣ Morning Time: Start the day by reviewing the calendar, weather, and letter of the day.
2️⃣ Learning Through Play: Make learning fun by using songs, movement, and hands-on activities.
3️⃣ Consistent Routine: Use it daily to help your child build confidence and reinforce early concepts.
4️⃣ Watch Your Child Thrive! Consistent exposure to foundational skills will prepare your little one for kindergarten success.
Tips and Tricks For Using the Learning Board
Cut first, laminate second! If you laminate cardstock before cutting, the pieces may fall apart!
Customize for your child’s needs. Think about YOUR specific child when putting this together. Does your little one get overwhelmed by too many colors? Would they benefit from focusing on just a few components at a time? Adjust the board to fit their learning style!
Introduce new components gradually. For younger learners, add a new section every few days to prevent information overload.
Only include what you’ve introduced. Stick to shapes, numbers, and letters that your child has already explored. For example, if you're focusing on B and M this week, add those letters to the board and reinforce them with other activities.
Follow your child's interests. If they’re fascinated by the weather wheel one day, lean into it! Learning is most effective when it aligns with their curiosity.
Keep it fun! The goal is to make learning engaging and enjoyable—no pressure, just playful exploration.
Make it interactive! Encourage your child to move pieces around, point to things, and talk about what they see. Hands-on learning is the most effective for young kids!
Use songs and movement. If your child is wiggly, try adding a little song or dance to go along with each part of the board. For example, sing a days of the week song while pointing to each day.
Keep sessions short and sweet. Toddlers and preschoolers have short attention spans, so keep learning time brief—5 minutes at a time is perfect!
Incorporate real-life connections. Talk about the calendar when planning an event, check the weather before going outside, or point out numbers and letters in books and around the house.
Let your child take the lead. If they lose interest in one activity, move on! The goal is exposure and engagement, not perfection.
Use it as part of a routine. Whether it’s part of morning time, snack time, or bedtime wind-down, making it a daily habit helps reinforce learning naturally.
