Heart Words / High Frequency Word Posters and Flashcards
Looking for fun and engaging visuals to support the orthographic mapping of high-frequency words? These posters and cards help students build confidence and practice with orthographic mapping high-frequency words.
Let's learn and practice our heart words! Includes 48 words!
Words Included:
a, again, all, and, any, are, as, been, come, could, do, does, done, for, from, full, give, has, have, his, I, is, know, many, no, of, off, once, one, only, our, pull, put, said, see, some, the, there, they, to, very, walk, want, was, who, would, you, your
This product includes:
Full-size cards with an explanation for each sound
Quarter-sized cards with an explanation for each sound
Quarter-sized cards with just hearts and checkmarks
Quarter-sized cards with just the word
**If a word may have multiple ways to map there are versions for each way. Remember that some heart words can differ based on your scope and sequence OR what concepts your students already know.
Preparation is a snap... All you need to do is print and you're ready to go!
Please Note:
A LOT of the words ARE completely decodable but are skills that my learners have not learned yet!
Example: like
The silent e is making the i say its long sound. However, at this point in my instruction (I follow the Recipe of Reading scope and sequence) my learners have not yet gone over silent e. This is a great time to QUICKLY introduce this concept and let my learners know we will practice this skill in the future.
